I'm so glad you found me! I'm a San Francisco photographer, and this blog charts my journey in the ever-evolving world of photography. One of the things I love about photography is that it's a journey, not a destination. I'm constantly learning and meeting wonderful people. Please peruse the blog to your heart's content, then check out my website and feel free to contact me! (I love hearing from you.)

Film Friday - Random San Francisco

Film Friday is back! With some random SF pictures, taken a rather long time ago but somehow never shared on the blog. I've been shooting a bit less film lately (possibly because I'm down to my last three rolls and haven't been able to justify buying more until I shoot those, also possibly because of that whole month where my left arm stopped working properly), but I still love it, of course. I don't think I'll ever stop shooting digital for my client work, but equally I don't think I'll ever stop shooting film for my personal work. I like the division; it makes sense to me. And I love medium format so, so much.

I always want to photograph dogs, anywhere I see them.

One of my favorite coffee shop windows, from the inside.

Window selfie!

And some nasturtiums.

Happy Film Friday! Have a great weekend! Get out there and enjoy the sunshine!

Film Sunday - Ocean Beach

How lucky are we to live right next to the vast Pacific Ocean? Sometimes I forget how lucky we are, and I don't make it out to the beach nearly as often as I'd like, but every time I do I realize yet again how majestic the ocean is, how constant and yet inconstant at the same time.

These were taken a few weeks ago, so it must be time to make my way there again.

Film Friday - Some Refreshment

Just one for you today, as I haven't gotten my most recent film developed yet. But I thought a nice cold drink after a busy week might be just the ticket anyway.

Film Friday - Japanese Tea Gardens

A few shots from a lovely afternoon in the Japanese Tea Gardens a couple of weeks ago.

You know me, I'm always a sucker for blossom photos.

Film Friday - The Presidio

A couple of film shots from a foggy evening in the Presidio.

Film Friday - A Few From Louisiana

From our trip there last October.

Film Friday - Morocco, Part 2: Meknes and Volubilis

A few more film shots from my trip to Morocco. On our second day we drove to Meknes and then to Volubilis, a gorgeous Roman ruin nestled in the hills near Moulay Idriss.

One of the Moroccan kings used to keep 400 horses in among these archways. More than one for every day of the year!

Demolition Square in Meknes.

And then we arrived at Volubilis.

The guy in the burgundy djellaba was our guide. He was pretty cool. He had taught himself English just by speaking to tourists, although it was still pretty patchy, and his French was great, as is usually the case in Morocco.

That's not the end of the Morocco photos, at least one more installment is coming!

Film Friday - Morocco, Part 1

This roll of film (and four others) I accidentally scanned as black and white film. I only noticed when I had loaded the next roll of film into the scanner, a roll of black and white film, and went to change the type of film from color to black and white, only to notice that there was no need to!

Before that I had been feeling a bit let down with my rolls of film from Morocco. They were properly exposed, but the colors were just a little . . . weird. Culprit found! (Me, as usual.)

Needless to say, they looked much better the second time I scanned them. So here are a few photos from the first day or so in Morocco, all taken in the imperial city of Rabat, one of my favorite places on the trip. There was a peace and a loveliness we found in Rabat that some of the other cities traded in for bustle and commerce. And the seaside was just lovely.

We spent the day sightseeing after flying all night from New York, so to say that we were jet-lagged would be putting it mildly. The calm loveliness made it easy to enjoy, though, and we managed to stay awake all day, and then get a good night's sleep in the evening.

I thought this gate below was just so beautiful, so I set up to take a photo in the morning just before we were about to leave for Meknes. I metered, focused, and pressed the shutter. As soon as I had, there was a guy down the street yelling at us - turns out it was part of some kind of military building! A couple of apologies in French, though, and putting the cameras away had us pardoned, and I walked away with the photo. So glad no one thinks to confiscate film any more . . . .
