San Francisco Engagement Photographer - Killian and Silvestre at Sutro Baths

I love Sutro Baths. I'm not normally one to play favorites (I enjoy a wiiiiiiiide variety of people, situations, and things) but if I were pressed to choose a favorite location to shoot at in San Francisco, I'd probably choose Sutro Baths. There's just such a huge variety of photos to be found there; lots of nooks and crannies to explore and stunning backdrops to make use of. Plus, it's an awesome place for silhouettes, which I just can't seem to get enough of.

I met Killian and Silvestre there a couple of weeks ago for their engagement session, and true to form, it was magical. Of course it didn't hurt that Killian and Silvestre are pretty great themselves: down to earth, laid back, and fun to hang out with.

We wandered Sutro Baths and came away with some photos that I think really capture the essence of who they are together.

I just love this photo of Silvestre. (By the way, his nickname is Silver. Is there anything cooler than that?)

Silhouettes. Yum.

And the light just kept getting better and better.

 I've been experimenting recently with creating double exposures in-camera with a new technique, and I have to say I'm a little bit addicted.

Winny and Terry, Part 2 - A Fisherman's Wharf Engagement Session

You may remember Winny and Terry from their first blog post what seems like eons ago now. They wanted to do two engagement sessions, one more casual (hello Giants wear and AT&T Park!) and one more formal at Fisherman's Wharf.

I had never photographed a session at Fisherman's Wharf before, and while I knew it would be absolutely gorgeous, I was a little concerned that we would be photobombed at every turn by tourists running amok. I'm pleased to say that that wasn't an issue at all, and while it was busy we were able to find lots of lovely spots and have them all to ourselves long enough to get the photographs we needed.

It was a warm evening, and the fresh smell of the water mingled with the sweet scent of waffle cones and the yeasty aroma coming from Boudin. We ventured first to the water's edge to look out at the boats.

And the only photobomber we found was a rogue seagull, searching for whatever scraps he could find. Seagulls are welcome to photo bomb my pictures any day!

Strong evening sunlight made for some fun shadows.

We finished up with a couple of portraits with the Petzval lens, and then a couple more by the water's edge.

Jessica and Mark - Baker Beach Anniversary Photography

Jessica and Mark came to San Francisco to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary, and wanted some photos on the beach to commemorate their time here. They came all the way from Missouri, and they were some of the most fun clients I have ever photographed, also they had their color-coordinated outfits down! (I love green.)

I also love it when clients aren't afraid to get a little sandy, wet, or dirty - it makes for better, more fun photographs! Jessica and Mark were willing to put their toes in the Pacific for the sake of photographs, yet more proof of their awesomeness if any were needed.

I love Baker Beach. The rocks there are just so great. Even if I did accidentally slip off of one at one point and scratch up a lens hood, it was worth it. (And thank you to the photo gods that that was the extent of the damage!)

And of course we had to get the bridge in a couple more shots.
