I'm so glad you found me! I'm a San Francisco photographer, and this blog charts my journey in the ever-evolving world of photography. One of the things I love about photography is that it's a journey, not a destination. I'm constantly learning and meeting wonderful people. Please peruse the blog to your heart's content, then check out my website and feel free to contact me! (I love hearing from you.)

“Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow." – Imogen Cunningham

“A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it.” – Edward Steichen

Inquisitive

The squirrels in Golden Gate Park are unnaturally friendly. Pretty sure this one was expecting me to pony up some nuts or bread. He was disappointed. Worked out for me, though, I got this picture!

And, you should definitely check out: Chema Madoz. Surreal, simple, black and white. Just great. This blog post has a lot of my favorite images. (Found via The Online Photographer.)

Oh! And a recipe for homemade spaetzle that I can't wait to try. As a veggie, this was my meal of choice in Germany and Austria many many nights.

Blogger Dynamic Views

Blogger has recently introduced Dynamic views, and I think they're kind of interesting. Basically they're just different ways to see all the posts in my blog. To view them on my blog, just type in http://quotidian-photography.blogspot.com/view, and then you can scroll through them in the blue button at the top of the page.

What do you think? I'm partial to Flipcard and Mosaic, myself. Don't really understand Timeslide. But they seem fun, and I'm all for fun. Why not?

Yogaaaa!

I was recently featured in the Athleta Chi Blog! Check it out! (Oh, and is this the wrong time to link to a post that pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about yoga? Hilarious!

SF Attacked By Huge Arrow! Citizens Run Screaming!

I love the whimsical nature of public art. This particular bow and arrow I never really appreciated until today, when I looked at it with my Lensbaby in hand and thought: that would make a really cool photo. I enjoy how the Lensbaby effect makes it seem a little more surreal.

(Oh, and PS: April Fools! I definitely have not adopted any snakes recently. Although I did think that one was kind of cute.)

Squiggles!

Meet my new pet, Squiggles. We found her under the house and she's slowly getting used to us. I've always wanted to have a pet snake. They get a bad rap, but really they're awesome. I think she's happy to be in her new terrarium. We fixed it up really nicely.

I'll share some more pictures of Squiggles tomorrow!

Rear View Mirror

Another Florida shot of the lovely Phoebe. ISO 100 68mm f/2.8 1/80s
Summer came to San Francisco today after weeks of rain and drab gray skies. It felt like what it was: a reprieve. A chance to wear short sleeves, to go hang out in the park, to wander the city streets after dark, just because.

I met up with a friend for a long-awaited reunion, some chardonnay and a piece of peach pie. After a lot of good conversation, we walked home and we could see the stars. It was still warm enough to be wearing one layer.

Sometimes, freedom is as simple as not having to worry about being cold when you step outside.
