I'm so glad you found me! I'm a San Francisco photographer, and this blog charts my journey in the ever-evolving world of photography. One of the things I love about photography is that it's a journey, not a destination. I'm constantly learning and meeting wonderful people. Please peruse the blog to your heart's content, then check out my website and feel free to contact me! (I love hearing from you.)
“Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow." – Imogen Cunningham
“A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it.” – Edward Steichen
I've never been to San Francisco, but I think I can tell from this picture that it's a warm place? The colours remind me of my time in Israel, where you'll know it's gonna be a hot day, as soon as you see the morning sunlight appear on the east side of buildings.
Of course, this could easily be a sunset photo and the colour temperature is something that can be tweaked in the camera. No idea if it's even possible to spot the difference in a photo really, but even if it's a sunset photo, I still like that it reminds me of sunrise in a place where I had good times :-)
What fabulous depth of field in this..wonderful how the bright green grass leads you to the soft blur of the city...you definitely get a feel of fog and gray skies after that burst of color! Beautiful!
Green grass! In my favorite city... and such a beautiful, soft romantic photo. We live in Massachusetts, but visit San Francisco every year or two. There's always something new to explore and discover.
Great shot! We love San Francisco. We spent our honeymoon there almost 40 years ago and have been back several times since. Thanks for the nice reminder.
Rad photo! Funny that the first commenter thought SF is hot- I can totally see it in the photo- the mist burning off and you know you're just gonna get cooked today- not in SF, of course, but maybe someplace else...
I love SF too, it's a wonderful city . . . but it's been really cold and rainy recently, so I doubt anyone could say that it's a warm place. Sunny sometimes, but rarely a place you'd want to visit without a jacket.
Did you take this photo from the California Academy of Sciences' Living Roof? -- 2.5 acres of native California plants, which not only provide insulation but prevent storm water runoff, keep the building cool and create a habitat for native birds, butterflies and bugs. Impressive if you were there with your camera.
What a nice feel this has, dreamy. A fine slice, just the fog and the very green grass does give it place. The warm cast is deceiving, what did Mark Twain say about S.F.?
Esther - it's not from the Living Roof, although I've been there and it's amazing. I took this in Alamo Square, a park on a hill not so far from my house.
And it was late afternoon, slipping toward sunset, hence the warm glow. The color of the light is definitely misleading, although the weather wasn't too bad that day.
Jessica! I'm not certain yet if I like this shot or not. Perhaps it would grow on me. I do like the green in the foreground, but there is something about the juxtaposition of the bokah and the green that is disturbing to me. Sorry.

ReplyDeleteWhat great perspective and color in this image. The horizon looks a little out of skew.

ReplyDeleteVery nice. I like the way you really emphasized the grass and were able to blur the background. Definitely makes the grass the main focus.
