I've already posted my sunstar recipe in the past, so I won't bore you by rehashing it. If you missed it the first time around, here it is.
The story for this image goes something like this: I was walking through the park on my way home (with my camera, that sucker goes everywhere with me!) and I saw this little wooded path that was bathed in beautiful rays of sun. I knew it was time to try out some sunstars, so I did. And I wanted a lower angle, so I did what any self-respecting photographer would do: I lay down. On the path. Actually, in the middle of the path. And I just lay there and took pictures of this path for a good five minutes. And let me tell you, five minutes is longer than it sounds.
People looked at me. And then, because it's San Francisco, they looked away. They've seen much stranger things than a girl with a camera lying in the middle of the path. Folks, I was almost mundane in comparison. But that's another blog post.
The point is that people didn't really pay a lot of attention to me after a couple of seconds. So they continued to use this path. And I kept taking pictures. This one is my favorite, for a few reasons:
1. I love the way he is clearly showing those women something. That interaction is golden.
2. The rays of sun on the women are incredible. I'm in love with them. Now I just want to go shoot people with the sun behind them all day long.
And that's it! Happy Friday, y'all!
This is stunning - I love the outlines, and just the overall warmth...
ReplyDeleteLovely and simple. I might also nick your sunstar technique next time I'm out around sunset.
ReplyDeleteAward winning in my opinion, looks like a scene from a movie...
ReplyDeleteThat is a real grabber. It was worth your 5 minutes lying in the path and more. A truly awesome shot.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding result. I'm in love with it too....

LOL @ "And let me tell you, five minutes is longer than it sounds."
ReplyDeleteI certainly believe that! (I usually try and find grass to lie down in, much more comfy ;-))
It's the perfect result though. Warm golden light, the light on the guy's face, and well, all the other things you already mentioned. Love it.
This is a great shot, and it's a testimony to being fearless in doing what it takes to get the shot and it proves that patience pays off. It's an eye-grabber for sure.
ReplyDeleteStunning shot. That light shining through the background is amazing.
ReplyDeleteSpectacular! I like the way the light is creating the silhouette. Almost magical...
ReplyDeleteI really like your images and your pledge :)
