I'm so glad you found me! I'm a San Francisco photographer, and this blog charts my journey in the ever-evolving world of photography. One of the things I love about photography is that it's a journey, not a destination. I'm constantly learning and meeting wonderful people. Please peruse the blog to your heart's content, then check out my website and feel free to contact me! (I love hearing from you.)

I neglect my telephoto lens. I do. I let it languish. I pass it up in favor of younger, better looking, 'sharper', more expensive lenses.

But there's a lot it can do for me that my other lenses can't. So here's a shout out to the longer lens. Thanks for blurring the background grasses to create that wash of color in the background. And for generally including less clutter in photos. And for sometimes saving me a few steps, or getting me closer than I otherwise could. I appreciate it. That's pretty cool the way you can do that.

Much obliged.

  1. Isn't it strange, my exercise with my 50mm prime lens left me with the same sort of gratitude. Don't Get me wrong I love my Sigma 70 - 300mm telephoto, but it is after all horses for coursesand although my trip to the Clydesdales was a case in point. I wasn't scared of those big beautiful beasts, so didn't need the zoom, and on the other hand the prime lens would have had me moving around like a monkey to get the shots I wanted, that could have scared the horses. So out comes the Goto Lens - The 18 - 70mm Nikkor lens that came with my camera is still the tool for most trades I undertake, it is a gem _ So like you I give thanks to the god of lenses, whomesoever she may be!

  2. I love this image. It is so pure and simple, the bokeh greatly helped the composition. And the colors, beautiful.

  5. I agree with Suselek. Beautifully simple and serene image. I, too, neglect my telephoto. I've been wrapped up with a fairly new macro and a very new fisheye, but I do love my telephoto.

  6. Thanks guys!

Ron, whoever this god of lenses is, I need to go put some offerings at her altar. Would love to have some special favors in that direction!

Isa and Tammy, thanks for stopping by! I always appreciate hearing your thoughts.

Miguel, you are always welcome as a student in any of my classes. It's a pleasure to teach you. :-)

And Karen, I envy you that macro. That's my next stop, I think. Maybe. Or maybe a better long zoom first, and then a macro.
