First of all, I'd like to point out that Katie and Baldvin are proof that two people don't need to have everything in common to make a lasting relationship work. Baldvin's from Iceland, Katie's from San Francisco. That's a pretty big cultural difference right there. But they do have in common that most important thing: they really care about other people and making them happy. Both of them are genuine and generous with their time and attention, and that's no small thing in today's world.
Twenty seven of Baldvin's family members traveled from Iceland to San Francisco for the wedding. Now that's dedication!
Doesn't Katie make a gorgeous bride?
Katie and her mother went to the flower market and put all the flowers together themselves, and I think they just turned out beautifully! I'm partial to dahlias, and these ones were stunning.
San Francisco weather is always a little unpredictable, even in July. Although the week before had been sunny and hot, the wedding day started off very misty and cool, and then it started raining. With good grace, the ceremony was moved inside, and the rest of the day went off without a hitch!
This baby was so well behaved! He was passed from arm to arm and he never fussed or seemed to mind at all.
The tables were all named after places in the city.
And even though the ceremony was inside it went swimmingly. Katie and Baldvin had already had a legal ceremony at City Hall and so they opted to officiate for themselves.
Katie's been singing practically her whole life, so naturally a few of her chorus mates performed a song during the ceremony.
The whole blended family!
My favorite moment of the toasts was when Baldvin's father Smari admitted that he only spoke 'Google Translate' English . . . .
Amazingly, they all said they hadn't planned their outfits together!
Thanks Katie and Baldvin for such an amazing wedding! It was a really great day, and now I'm definitely going to have to visit Iceland sometime soon!
