I'm so glad you found me! I'm a San Francisco photographer, and this blog charts my journey in the ever-evolving world of photography. One of the things I love about photography is that it's a journey, not a destination. I'm constantly learning and meeting wonderful people. Please peruse the blog to your heart's content, then check out my website and feel free to contact me! (I love hearing from you.)

Backlight

I saw the light on these icicles on the tree, and I just had to take the shot.

I am quickly becoming one of those annoying people who says, "Wait, stop! The light! Look at the light! I need to take a picture."

Other (normal) people are so far pretty forgiving, but their patience can't last forever. And I'm pretty sure that this disease is incurable.

  1. Looks cold too, but I don't think even faith healing will help you.

  2. The lighting is gorgeous...also love the hints of snowflakes falling in the background!

My husband hates going out walking w/ me and the camera LOL (but I still make him)! :)

  3. What are all the spots from?
    I find them pretty distracting.
Also, I feel the left icicle should be more out of focus or more in focus.
I know that at this point you can't bring it into focus, but maybe try playing with the gaussian blur.
I just feel that it's defined enough to to draw your attention without satisfying it.
Blurring it a little more may or may not help with it.

What I do really like is the bright ice on the dark background. It really makes it pop.

  4. Isn't the Photographer Addiction Affliction grand? Don't ever find a cure, please!

  5. Great catch and angle. I like the DOF on it and the black background. I've been away too, so I also looked at your ski trip photos. Great job on those too. I really liked the shot from the lift with the sun and the shadows and the colors. Nice work, as usual!

  6. With results like this, I hope it is indeed incurable! Great shot, I love the detail, and the subtle light on each tiny needle-leaf.

(also, if 'normal' means not seeing the light, I much prefer to be abnormal :-))

  7. The light on the icicles is great and I love the snowflakes in the background.

I love seeing everything through a photographer's eye, and I want to never, never change.

  8. This is a fantastic shot! Wonderful detail and background. Its very fresh and interesting to see.

I have found I get on everyone's nerves because they are walking a block or a 1/2 mile ahead of me always. I am constantly stopping at looking a a reflection in a car bumper or a blade of grass or an alley, LOL everything distracts me. My daughter says who wants pictures of a blade of grass from all four sides, I say ME!
